William L. Knecht.  With more than 38 years of legal experience, William L. Knecht has a diverse practice focusing in the areas of banking, real estate, bankruptcy, corporate, business, decedent's estates, estate planning, elder law and commercial law.

Bill has served as Editor of the Lycoming Reporter since 1977, served as Lycoming Law Association President in 1995; former U.S. Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy Trustee for approximately 12 years; and member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates since 2000; member of the Board of Trustees of the Williamsport YWCA; Board of Directors of the Lycoming County SPCA and Lycoming Neighborhood Development Corporation. He is also chairman of an Advisory Board of Directors of FNB Bank, NA and has served on the legal Assistant Advisory COmmittee at the Pennsylvania College of Technology for more than 20 years.

Bill is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, American Bar Association, Lycoming Law Association and American Bankruptcy Institute. He is also admitted to local, state , and appellate courts, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Bill is a graduate of Bellefonte High School (1963), Pennsylvania State University (1967) and Dickinson School of Law (1970), he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1971-1973.

In January of 2009, Bill received the first Honorable Thomas Wood Equal Access to Justice Award from the Lycoming Law Association and he received a 2009 Pro Bono Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation.

He and is wife, Margaret, are parents of two children and five grandchildren.
